Lin Zhengtai is a practitioner in the Master Tung acupuncture lineage. These interviews introduce his background and approach to teaching alongside students’ accounts of learning.
After plenty of practical placements, one student recalls graduating and still feeling unprepared. That memory opens the student special of 拾光者, a Chinese-language interview programme. How does a learner move through uncertainty—and how does a teacher respond to it? These questions introduce a side of Lin Zhengtai that a short professional biography cannot show.
Produced and hosted by 鹿颖, 拾光者 brings his conversations together in five themed episodes and a student special. This English guide begins with the learners, then returns to Lin’s accounts of family learning, motivation and the responsibility of passing knowledge on. The original films are in Chinese.
Start with the student special: hear the learners
The film above was published on September 17, 2026, and runs 3 minutes 40 seconds. Students describe uncertainty around learning and their wish to help family members. Lin responds to the changes he has noticed in how they participate in class.
He also introduces a student identified in the programme as Sara 李医师. Having attended classes in Beijing, she wanted to bring that learning opportunity to students in Vancouver. Her introduction gives the theme of transmission a concrete setting: a learning experience that began in Beijing connects with a teacher–student conversation in Vancouver.
Notice what each person pays attention to. The students speak from their own hesitation and experience; the teacher reflects on their engagement and learning. Those perspectives make the special a useful starting point before exploring Lin’s teaching philosophy in the shorter episodes.
Five ways into the conversation

Lin uses an everyday light switch as a metaphor when introducing acupoints. This episode offers a chance to observe how he approaches unfamiliar terminology and a listener’s hesitation.

In EP01, Lin explicitly says that he never met 董公景昌, the earlier figure whose teaching lineage he discusses. His account traces that connection through his own teachers. In EP04, he returns to the image of making a path easier to walk: the person ahead encounters difficulties and keeps learning so that others can move forward with fewer obstacles.
Together, these passages connect the help he received with the help he hopes to offer. EP02 asks why a person chooses to teach; EP03 considers what happens when a student challenges a teacher’s assumptions. The special then gives the students room to speak. The resulting portrait is about a relationship, as much as it is about a field of knowledge.
